Resilience-Focused EMDR Basic Training Details

    Licensed Mental Health Professionals

    Qualifying medical doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.

    Qualifying advanced practice registered nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province. 

    Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be licensed to practice through their state board or province. 

    Individuals who only hold a chemical dependency or substance abuse license are not eligible as these licenses generally do not allow for a mental health scope of practice. 

    Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals

    These are clinicians who are actively pursuing a mental health license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor. Some of these license types include associate, intern, limited, provisional, temporary and pre-license.

    Qualifying pre-licensed mental health clinicians must have a master's degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and must be actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor.

    Graduate Students

    Qualifying graduate students must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work) or related mental health discipline. Students must have completed their core graduate academic coursework and must be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program. First year graduate students are not eligible. Graduate students must be on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.

    Graduate students who would like to take an EMDR Training will need to submit documentation, in the form of a letter from their supervisor, in order to verify their eligibility. The letter must reflect that the student is on the licensing track, working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician, include their practicum or internship details, and include the supervisor’s license information and number. The letter should appear on the supervisor’s office letterhead and include a signature as well as contact information. Students do not need to provide EMDRIA with any documentation unless specifically asked to do so by EMDRIA staff. Please email documentation to admin@brainbasedemdr.com

    • 5 Day Basic Training $1,497

    Payment Options: 

  • Participants will receive 40 continuing education credit hours upon completion of the 5 day intensive training. Participants are required to attend the training in its entirety in order to receive continuing education credit hours. No partial credit will not be awarded.

    CE certificates, including continuing education credit hour information, will be issued electronically at the conclusion of the training after the participant has attended the full training and submitted all administrative documents, including their evaluations.

    Brain Based EMDR Training, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7231. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Brain Based EMDR Training, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

    This training is also approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for continuing education credit.

Additional Program Information

  • Requirements to Complete Basic EMDR Course:

     In order to complete the course, and receive continuing education credit hours, EMDRIA requires participants to attend the live training event in its entirety; meaning you must be present for 100% of the training, including lecture and practice.  

    EMDRIA also requires that trainees complete an additional 10 hours of consultation within 12 months of the start date of your Basic EMDR training. The required 10 hours of consultation are covered in the registration fee. Instructions on how to register for consultation are provided in the training and on your course website.

    Required Materials for Basic Training:

    All Basic Training participants are required to read Francine Shapiro’s original text Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Third Edition: Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures.

    All other required and supplemental materials for the course will be available for download on your course website. You will receive access and instructions on how to log in to the course site once you’ve completed your registration.

    Guidelines for Virtual EMDR Therapy (Spring 2020)All other required and supplemental materials for the course will be accessible on your course website. You will receive access and instructions on how to log in to the course site once you’ve completed your registration. 

    If you are completing the training virtually, you will require computer and internet access as well as the ability to log on to Zoom. Mobile devices and iPads may be used as a backup; but we strongly encourage and recommend the use of a computer or laptop.

  • Cancellation Policy for Scheduled Trainings:

    Minimum Attendance Requirement: Brain Based EMDR Training, LLC reserves the right to cancel any training if it does not meet the minimum attendance requirement of 10 participants. Participants will be notified at least 7 days in advance of the scheduled training. 

    Unforeseen Events: Brain Based EMDR Training, LLC reserves the right to cancel any training if something occurs that is beyond our control, such as, sudden illness, death of a relative of a scheduled trainer, severe weather, or national disaster. Participants will be notified at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled training.

    Brain Based EMDR Training reserves the right to charge administrative fees for transfers occurring within 30 days of a scheduled EMDR training start date, and for transfers occurring after the start date of a training. 

    Participant Cancellation & Transfer Policy:

    At Brain Based EMDR Training, LLC we understand emergencies and unforeseen events happen. With that in mind we offer registrants the flexibility to cancel or transfer their registration prior to their scheduled EMDR training. 

    In order to receive a full refund of your registration fee, minus any credit card processing fees incurred at the time of purchase, and cost of training materials, participants must provide written notice of cancellation 24 hours prior to the start date of their training.

    Brain Based EMDR training reserves the right to charge an administrative fee for transfers occurring within 30 days of a scheduled EMDR training start date, and for transfers occurring after the start date of a training.

    Once you begin your EMDR training we strongly encourage you to stay within that cohort in order to support continuity in the learning experience as well as cohesion and safety within the group.  In the event of an emergency, we will allow you to transfer to another training within 12 months of your original date of registration. 

    Please note: If you have to transfer to another cohort once the EMDR training has begun you will be required to join the training and retake it from the beginning. This is to preserve group cohesion and safety in our practicum sessions.
